Join the Salt Spring Island Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

The Salt Spring Island Chamber of Commerce is looking for passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors.

This is an exciting time to become involved. Over the past year, the Chamber has experienced tremendous growth and delivered meaningful initiatives that support local businesses and strengthen our community.

Some of our recent accomplishments include:

  • Growing Chamber membership by more than 60%, from 101 members in March 2025 to 162 members by June 2026.
  • Reviving the Salt Spring Visitor Guide, with 20,000 copies distributed through BC Ferries, Visitor Centres, airports, local accommodations, and businesses across the island.
  • Producing the Salt Spring Visitor Map, helping visitors discover and support local businesses.
  • Conducting the 2026 Business Survey, with 152 businesses participating. The results, to be released soon, will help shape the Chamber's advocacy and priorities for the coming year.
  • Hosting nine Member Mixers, creating valuable opportunities for local businesses to connect and collaborate.
  • Relaunching the Salty Awards, celebrating the outstanding contributions of Salt Spring's business community.
  • Delivering community events including Hands Across the Water, Holiday Light Up, Winter Wander, and the inaugural Trucker & Trades Holiday Parade.
  • Advocating for local businesses on important issues including transportation, tourism, economic development, and business competitiveness.

We're proud of what we've accomplished—but we're just getting started.

As a Chamber Director, you'll have the opportunity to help shape the future of our local business community by contributing your ideas, experience, and leadership alongside a dedicated and collaborative Board.

Whether you're a business owner, professional, entrepreneur, or community leader, we welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives who are committed to making a positive impact on Salt Spring Island.

What Does Serving on the Board Involve?

Board members provide strategic leadership and governance for the Chamber, helping to set priorities, support advocacy efforts, oversee the organization's long-term sustainability, and champion programs and initiatives that benefit our members and the wider community. The Board meets monthly, with additional opportunities to participate in committees or special projects based on your interests and availability.

Interested in Learning More?

If you're curious about serving on the Board, we'd love to connect. We'd be happy to meet over coffee or chat by phone to answer your questions, discuss the role and responsibilities of Directors, the expected time commitment, and learn more about your interests and availability to see if joining the Board would be a good fit—for both you and the Chamber.

There is absolutely no obligation—just an opportunity to have a conversation.
