Ganges Hill Parking Lot — Saturday Market

Seasonal | Part-Time | May – October 2026

About the Role

The Salt Spring Island Chamber of Commerce is seeking a reliable, friendly, and organized individual to serve as the Saturday Parking Attendant at the new Ganges Hill parking lot during the Saturday Market season. This is a high-visibility role supporting one of Salt Spring’s most important weekly events, helping locals and visitors park safely while supporting local charities through our donation-based parking program.

Schedule

• Every Saturday from the Victoria Day long weekend (May 2026) through the end of October 2026

• Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (8 hours, including setup and takedown)

• Reliable weekly attendance is essential

Key Responsibilities

• Set up signage, tents, and chairs at the start of each shift, and take everything down at the end of the day

• Direct and coordinate charity volunteers, providing clear instruction on how to park vehicles efficiently and safely

• Greet drivers warmly and represent the Chamber and the Saturday Market with professionalism

• Collect parking donations throughout the day and ensure funds are securely handled and accurately reconciled at day’s end

• Monitor the lot for safety, accessibility, and smooth traffic flow

• Resolve minor issues on-site and escalate concerns to the Chamber as needed

• Report attendance, donation totals, and any incidents to the Chamber after each shift

What We’re Looking For

• Friendly, outgoing personality with strong customer service skills

• Comfortable directing volunteers and giving clear instructions

• Trustworthy and reliable in handling cash donations

• Physically able to set up and take down signage, tents, and chairs (some lifting required)

• Able to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions

• Punctual and committed to the full season

• Previous experience in event support, parking, hospitality, or volunteer coordination is an asset

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
