Picture this, you’re just arrived on Salt Spring
and you’re trying to figure out where to go…
Yes, you googled some things the day before, but now that you’re here, your search results don’t seem to translate into your current environs. What was the name of that restaurant again? And where was that beach that’s great for families? And where is the nearest freaking public washroom?
Luckily, you see the sign, the infamous sign with a yellow capital I, with the word “Visitor Centre” beside it. So you head there.
Now if you’ve traveled a lot here in BC, you’re likely familiar with the Visitor Centre program and likely keep an eye out for them in each community you visit.
But did you know that each and every visitor centre is owned, operated and funded by a local sponsor organization?
And here on Salt Spring, the Salt Spring Chamber of Commerce runs the Visitor Centre, or the Salt Spring Info Centre as we prefer to call it here. A fact that many folks aren’t aware of.
